The 516-acre Texas River Ranch is nestled between Mineral Wells and Weatherford—famous for its professional cutting horse trainers and riders.
A sprawling ranch in North Texas, on the banks of the famous Brazos Rivers, just went on the market for $11.6 million.
Cutting is a competition where a rider and his horse, usually a Quarter Horse, work together to remove a cow from a herd of cattle. Cutting horses are specifically bred and trained to take on this job, and to quote the National Horse Cutting Association, the horses are “treated as athletes while their riders” are treated “as professional sports people.” Weatherford bills itself as the “Cutting Horse Capital of the World” and is known as the home to several professional trainers, riders, and hall-of-fame horses.
This listing is extra special, though, because it features the Brazos River and includes a substantial one mile of river frontage. The river is the 14th longest in the U.S. and the longest in Texas, stretching for 1,280 miles, and it holds great historical significance for the state.
The ranch was recently listed by Layne Walker of Hall and Hall.
