More than 100 guests can easily enjoy the main floor space, and front and rear covered concrete decks. The master suite, library, kitchen nook, and other living spaces all occupy the main floor for elegant ranch-style living.
The library takes a page from 1860s Colorado. The two-story fireplace is made from hand-picked Colorado river rock; the trusses, mantle, and wood beams were milled from trees that once stood where the library does now. Above, a one-of-a-kind Native American teepee-shaped chandelier depicts early Colorado figures and artifacts made from copper. Above the pool table, a concave ceiling structure features a four-paneled painting from the late artist Larry Fanning, known for his captivating paintings of the west. The entire west wall of the library is custom bookcases, while the northeast corner accommodates a custom gun case with wave-seated glass, which accommodates both firearms and ammunition. The library also has a sound and entertainment system, built-in computer station, wet bar, and custom stained-glass doors.
The voluminous master bedroom includes a private round gazebo attached to the exterior, offering an intimate private view of the city day or night. Enjoy a massage for two, or simply sit privately and gaze at the expansive skyline. The master bath is lined with 500-year-old imported Italian tile, which surrounds a jacuzzi tub and granite-lined steam shower.
Five of the home’s seven garages lead to the mudroom, which features seven storage lockers for coats and boots. A large granite tabletop rests atop lower cabinets with drawers and doors for additional storage. A large walk-in closet opens from the mudroom for additional storage. A connected pet room features a tiled floor and walls, drain, storage, and a sink. The Upper Level
The upper level of the family bedrooms consists of five family or guest bedrooms, a mother-in-law suite, and a meeting room. The mother-in-law suite includes a kitchen area with a built-in mini-fridge and sink, a living room with windows facing outstanding westerly views, and a large bedroom with an east-facing balcony. Daylight floods the meeting room/classroom, which has four built-in desks wired for computer stations.
The Lower Level
Just below the library is a full gym, sauna, and sound and video system with Direct TV, DVD, and CD capabilities through a surround-sound ceiling speaker system. The lower level also includes two bedrooms and a guest family room with a fireplace. A theater room with an Elan sound system has a raised stage, colored spotlights, and karaoke microphones.
Heating and Cooling
When the surrounding hills are blanketed in snow, the main house stays comfortable with radiant heat on the first and second floors. The third floor has hot water baseboard heat supplied by four independent state-of-the-art boilers, which also provide consistent hot water to the house. In the warmer months, multi-zone air conditioning keeps occupied spaces cool. The home also has seven fireplaces, one of which is built into a covered patio for comfortable outdoor seating year-round. Another notable fireplace is two stories high with custom hand-carvings inspired by Edwardian, Georgian and Jacobean architectural eras.
With over half a dozen ski resorts within a 90-minute drive, ample ski storage is a must for this location. The lower level of the home features an enormous ski storage area and tuning room, with upper and lower cabinets along the walls surrounding a central ski tuning table and radiant-heated floors. An oversized sports closet stashes winter clothes, ski helmets, and other equipment, while the lower foyer serves as a launching point for backcountry skiing or snowshoeing along some of the original ski trails from the property’s former ski area days.

Step through the saloon-like game room to a bunk room with a full bath and stairs that lead up to a second-floor office and control room. Custom cabinetry in the office matches that in the tack room, made from ponderosa pine harvested while excavating the site.
The custom Rockin J Equine horse stalls have concrete floors with rubber floor mats, drains, and automatic water fountains, with Dutch doors to the outside, and horse runs connecting to a larger corral, all made of welded drilling pipe. A stone-walled wash rack area has hot and cold water and high-mounted heaters to keep the chill off the horses. Fully automated mechanics in the feed room takes care of all the heavy lifting, and a state-of-the-art sound system keeps all ears entertained.
There’s no need to leave the premises to ride with the fully insulated and enclosed on-site riding arena. Four automatic controlled doors open to the 20,000-square-foot arena under rodeo-quality lighting. A state-of-the-art sound system and microphone system throughout the building allows trainers and instructors to communicate easily with riders.
Hay Barn and Calf Barn
There’s ample room to store hay for the winter in this steel building, designed with three sliding double doors for maneuvering equipment and loading supplies. Two silos for grain storage are smartly situated adjacent to the hay barn and feeding corrals.
On the lower level, the calf barn is a multi-purpose area that subdivides into a three-stall area to accommodate several different cows or calves at once. Three garage doors open into three pens. Two hydrants, one at each end of the building, make easy work of watering livestock or hosing down the floors. A final stall includes a Powder River squeeze chute with an electronic scale designed to assist a laboring cow or weigh a steer before shipping them to market. The calf barn stalls gating system was designed by Temple Grandin, a scientist, and Colorado State University professor renowned for her knowledge of livestock. The calf barn serves another purpose during hunting season, where game can be hung and processed. The well-lighted area is protected from the weather and features above-average ceiling height to allow hanging a prize elk or trophy mule deer.
Cow Handling Area
A carefully planned cow handling area consists of three corrals with automatic heated watering stations to eliminate the need for refilling or breaking ice in winter. Two alleyways branch off from the corrals: one for branding, inoculation, or other needs featuring a two-year-old Powder River squeeze chute anchored in concrete; the other for loading cattle into stock trucks. All the corrals and holding pens are made of welded petroleum drilling pipe.

Tracks set in the concrete floors support a bulldozer, and a full-size dealership-quality lift makes for simpler vehicle repairs, changing tires, or adding snow chains. The lift area has hanging trouble lights, air hoses, and a 220-volt outlet for welding — an exceptional setup that is mirrored on the opposite side of the shop.
Ranch Hand Quarters
Above the shop is the three-bedroom, two-bathroom ranch hand’s quarters with a private entrance, including a foyer and a half bath on the first floor.
