Durango, COAstounding luxury estate nestled in the Animas Valley near the quintessential mountain town of Durango, Colorado. The improvements are impeccable and the exterior attributes are just as stunning as the home.
Yarmony Mountain Ranch possesses the attributes everyone looks for in a Colorado mountain property. Located between the ski resorts of the Vail Valley and Steamboat Springs, this unimproved 3,561± acre offering is highlighted by a diverse landscape of aspen groves, mountain parks, timbered slopes, canyons, and sage pasture. The ranch is well-watered with multiple water sources, including nearly six-plus miles of creeks. This is a place with big mountain views and limitless recreational activities on the deeded acreage as well as adjacent public lands. Yarmony Mountain Ranch borders Routt National Forest, BLM lands, and the Radium State Wildlife Area. It is also just north of the Radium Recreation Area on the Colorado River. The primary point of access for the ranch sits north of the unincorporated community of Bond, which is located 15 miles north of the I-70 corridor. Vail, Beaver Creek, and the Eagle County Regional Airport are all within 40 miles of Bond to the south. The ski resort community of Steamboat Springs is 56 miles to the north of Bond.
In addition to its beautiful mountain setting, Yarmony Ranch provides excellent wildlife habitat and is home to strong populations of both resident and migratory elk and mule deer. Additional wildlife found here includes moose, grouse, songbirds, and a host of other animals. Wildflowers abound at the higher elevations of the ranch during the summer, and one will appreciate the ranch’s rich biodiversity and varied ecological zones. The lower parcels of this holding sit just above the Colorado River. Elevation rises as the ranch runs north from these parcels to the eventual border with national forest lands. The topography is varied throughout, with rolling ridges and lush valleys interspersed with steep mountain slopes and open sage parks. Access to the ranch is currently seasonal. Gated internal roads provide access to and throughout each parcel.
The property is located within Colorado Game Management Unit (GMU) 15 which is designated as an over-the-counter elk hunting unit. With bull elk licenses available on an over-the-counter basis for the archery and second and third rifle seasons. Licenses for the muzzleloader and first and fourth rifle seasons are available by draw only. Private landowners in GMU 15 may also apply for private land-only elk licenses for the muzzleloader, first, and fourth rifle seasons. These private land-only licenses are generally easily drawn and provide ownership with additional license and hunting season options. Mule deer licenses in the State of Colorado are only available by draw. However, mule deer licenses in this GMU are easily drawn and landowners can apply for private land-only licenses that are also readily drawn on an annual basis. The ranch is not currently enrolled in Colorado’s landowner preference program, but new ownership could enroll the property in the program and apply for deer hunting vouchers in the future.
Offered in cooperation with William George, Colorado Ranch Company.
Vail, Beaver Creek, and Steamboat Springs rank among the top mountain resort destinations for visitors and have experienced significant development pressures over the past decades. As a result, few large retreat properties with close proximity to ski slopes and amenities exit or come to market. With a beautiful setting for enjoying outdoor recreational activities, Yarmony Mountain Ranch offers a rare opportunity to acquire a fine example of such a ranch.
