The Temple Ranch is located about 5 miles south of Whitehall, about 60 miles west of Bozeman, about 30 miles east of Butte. The ranch itself lies at the base of the Tobacco Root Mountains to the south and streches north to the Jefferson and Little Jefferson Rivers. Kountz Bridge Road, an all weather road, accesses the ranch headquarters. The town of whitehall has a population of approximately 1,200 and serves as the primary trade center for the immediate area.
