504,000-Acre New Mexico Ranch Last Asking $115 Million Sells

The family behind major homebuilding firm D.R. Horton put the vast property, called Great Western Ranch, up for sale last year

The 504,000-acre Great Western Ranch, more than half the size of the state of Rhode Island, has just sold for an undisclosed price.

At 790 square miles, the New Mexico ranch is one of the largest in the U.S.. The seller, the family behind the Texas-based homebuilding giant D.R. Horton, put it on the market in 2024 for $142 million. At the time of the July 30 sale, the price had been reduced to $115 million.
