Known as Rancho Temescal, the property was long owned by financier and racehorse breeder Jed Cohen and his son Tim Cohen. Jed, a veteran of financial services firms like Kleiner, Bell, and Bear Stearns., died in 2022. Tim is now selling the property.
The Cohen family paid $3.9 million for the property in 2000, buying it from oil giant Texaco, which was operating drilling wells there.
Located in the Topatopa foothills near Lake Piru roughly 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, the ranch qualifies as part of the Thirty Mile Zone, or TMZ, a popular area for filming entertainment productions.
