Meet the cotton farmers who are battling the odds and struggling to make ends meet. Rain, or the lack thereof, is a common culprit on the list of farmers’ worries. The unpredictability of weather, combined with costly equipment and time-consuming harvests, can make or break a season.

Texas is the nation’s number one cotton producing state, and the panhandle produces two-thirds of Texas cotton and cottonseed. Most of the highest producing counties are within 80 miles of Lubbock, Texas.
