The Denny Ranch is a nice a combination of productive grazing, and scenic land totaling 5,128± deeded acres fenced and cross-fenced into six different pastures. The terrain is a mix of Wyoming hard grasses known for putting significant gains on cattle, rolling hills and draws which are lined with pine and cedar trees, and low creek bottoms along Rawhide Creek. Rock outcroppings cover a large portion of the ranch and winter protection for livestock is provided by huge cottonwood trees that cover a large portion of the lower bottoms of the ranch along the head of Rawhide Creek. Water on the ranch is provided by several wells, windmills and underground pipeline and Rawhide Creek. A portion of the ranch was first purchased by the Denny Family in 1902 and is being sold for the first time.
The Denny Ranch is cross fenced in several pastures. The ranch is well suitable for either yearlings or cow/calf pairs. Currently the ranch is running cow/calf pairs. Winter feed is typically purchased off the ranch and trucked in. Water from six wells and underground pipelines with tanks scattered across the ranch provides livestock easy access to water. Fences across the ranch are in good condition and provide for a good summer rotation across the ranch. While some of the fences are on property lines, some are not. Terrain does play a role in where fences can be placed. Both deer and elk are numerous across the ranch.
An exchange of use with a neighbor allows for the Denny Ranch to use a part of a neighboring ranch that joins the ranch, while the neighbor uses a part of the Denny Ranch that does not join the ranch.
Offered, in part for the first time since 1902 the Denny Ranch is a multidimensional ranch that includes a very good cattle operation located in an area proven for outstanding weight gains on yearlings and an area that offers excellent hunting opportunities. Commercial hunting or saving the ranch for personal use, either one is offered on the Denny Ranch.
The Denny Ranch is located southwest of Lusk, Wyoming in both Niobrara and Goshen County. The ranch can be easily accessed from Lusk west on Highway 20, two miles south on County Road #54 (Silver Springs Road) for seven miles then west on a private road for three miles to the ranch headquarters.
The ranch is located in an area southwest of Lusk that is known for strong weight grains on both yearlings and cow/calf pairs as well as an excellent area for elk and deer hunting.
Lusk, Wyoming has an annual precipitation of approximately 16 inches. This includes snow that averages 45 inches for the winter. Average temps in the summer average 90 degrees while winter temps average 38 degrees. During the winter blowing and drifting snows are typical. Quick changes between mild and cold spells are common.
Improvements on the ranch include a three-bedroom two-bath house with air/heat and a two-bedroom one-bath 950 square foot second home. The second home is typically used as a guest home or for hunters during hunting season. Other improvements include a good set of corrals, shop and barn. There are six wells across the ranch and one well at the improvements.
The Denny Ranch has a very adequate water system across the ranch utilizing wells, windmills, pipeline and water from Rawhide Creek which provides adequate water for livestock from any place on the ranch.
The Denny Ranch offers a secluded location and plenty of privacy with the tree lined draws and ridges as well as the seclusion provided in the Rawhide Creek area. All this provides excellent habitat for any number of wildlife including turkeys, sharp-tail grouse, elk, mule deer, white tail deer and antelope. The Rawhide Butts area has been estimated by WY Game & Fish to have over 500 head of elk that travels through the area through the winter.

The Denny Ranch has typically operated as a cow/calf ranch with additional pairs for the summer months with adequate grass from good moisture. Winter feed is normally purchased by and trucked to the ranch for the winter months. Migratory elk are common throughout the ranch. The Rawhide Buttes south of Lusk have been known to see upwards of 500 head of elk traveling through that area. Mule deer are also numerous across the area as well as on the ranch. The Denny Ranch offers a wonderful opportunity to own an operating ranch and enjoy a tremendous amount of recreation with turkey, elk, deer and antelope found on the ranch.
